Woodstock Wildlife Sanctuary

A 3-hectare wildlife sanctuary on the Woodstock Wine Estate at McLaren Flat, with rescued kangaroos, wallabies and an emu, and a daily 11:30am feeding session.

Wildlife alongside the cellar door

Woodstock Wine Estate has run a small wildlife sanctuary on its property at McLaren Flat for many years - 3 hectares of fenced bushland home to rescued western grey kangaroos, wallabies and an emu. The animals are friendly and used to visitors, and you can wander through the enclosure on a short loop.

Daily feeding

A staff feeding session runs at 11:30am most days, where the kangaroos and wallabies come close for hand-feeding (with the staff supervising). It is one of the most reliable ways to get close to native wildlife on a Fleurieu day, especially for kids.

Pair with the cellar door

The Woodstock cellar door is right next door, so the family pattern is usually: animal feeding for the kids, wine tasting and grazing platters for the parents.
