Whalers (formerly Whalers Inn Restaurant) sits at the foot of The Bluff at Encounter Bay, with uninterrupted views across the ocean where southern right whales are regularly spotted in winter. The menu runs to modern Australian cooking with an unsurprising emphasis on local seafood, steaks and seasonal Fleurieu produce.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner
The restaurant serves breakfast on weekends, lunch Wednesday to Sunday and dinner Thursday to Saturday, with extended hours over summer. It is one of the most scenic dining rooms on the Fleurieu, particularly at sunset looking out toward Wright Island and West Island.
